Sainam Rock

Sainam Rock is one of the Eight Scenic Views of Danyang and is a 70-meter-high rock cliff situated along the deep, blue stream of Namjocheon Stream in the southern part of Danyang. Sainam Rock is located in a spot where a wide rock formation, resembling a folding screen, forms a sheer cliff that exudes majesty along the banks of Namjocheon (also known as Ungyecheon). Sainam Rock is composed of Mesozoic Cretaceous biotite granite, and its well-developed tabular and vertical joints make the granite body appear like a square prism. The granite body in this region features well-developed joints, including tors, on its upper surface, forming a unique landscape, and due to its location along the stream, erosional landforms such as potholes and kerrels are distributed throughout the area.
