This traditional vocal drama is inspired by the widely known Korean film, Seopyeonje - The Southerners' Songs. Korea’s top creative team reinterprets the distinctive emotions and aesthetic beauty of Korea through “pansori”—traditional vocal art—in a contemporary theatrical language.
The story traces the heart-wrenching journey of an elderly pansori singer, a father who has devoted his entire life to his art, and his young daughter. Through their relentless pursuit of artistic perfection, the production poses questions about the essence of both art and life.
This drama weaves universal emotions that resonate across cultures—the pain of life, the bonds of family, the longing for dreams, and sacrifice—through Korean traditional art. The singers’ voices, heavy with deep sorrow, convey the full spectrum of life’s joys and sorrows, delivering profound emotional resonance that transcends national boundaries.
