Introduction

Uiseong Soudang is a traditional hanok and a National Folklore Cultural Heritage located in Sanun Village. The village is seated between Geumseongsan Mountain on its backside and the Changideul Plain stretched on its front side. In the village, which was formed by Yeongcheon Lee clan during the reign of King Myeongjong in the Joseon period, there remain about 10 traditional houses including Soudang. Uiseong Soudang is a house of an aristocrat built in the late Joseon period in Uiseong. Its greatest character is that it shows a stylish harmony of a house with anchae (main building) and sarangchae (detached building) and a beautiful garden. On the west side of the anchae and sarangchae, there is an earthen wall enveloping the area, and a separate house (like a villa) is seated with a pond and a small forest.
A total of six rooms are perfect for passing a night at a historic house. Sarangbang was built in the early 19th century by Mr. Sou Lee Gabal, and the L-shaped anchae was refurbished in the 1880s. Byeoldang (the separate house) has a spacious space that can accommodate six persons, 12 meters wide and 5 meters deep, and a modern toilet. The gem of Byeoldang is the garden that instantly grabs your attention with a picturesque landscape.
